![]() ![]() Something like ZRemesher or Sculptris Pro were game changers for 3d sculpting, but the Gravity Bridge brush feels more like something you might just download for free from the Download Center. Zbrush feels almost feature complete, really, with the amount of tools that it has that give you various kinds of fundamental control over shapes and surfaces. The problem is that 2023 just doesn't feel like enough of an update to justify paying essentially full price for it again, especially with the knowledge that we'd likely just have to do it again in 2024, and the updates then might seem light then too. I'm really not upset that Maxon has decided that its time to actually make users pay for the upgrades that they spend their time and energy creating. Pixologic basically gifted its users with free upgrades for decades, and we all became used to it. I have a "perpetual license" for Adobe Photoshop CS6 in that I can and will use it for as long as humanly possible and I don't have to pay an extra cent from when I first bought it. ![]() Honestly ZBrush just did it differently for a long time and gave its users expectations that were different from other software. Someone has forged your best chisel and (at least me, anyway) I don't care what box it comes in, what the handle is like, or even what it looks like. the software is monumentally powerful at what it does, and that's thanks to pixelogic. ![]() Sell the horse while it just has enough legs to be worth selling, but not closing with a stellar race in the bag, "We got it to where we and the community wanted it, and any more is glitter", is a great way to think of it. ![]() And from a business perspective, they sold at a great time. They continue to keep the community spirit going which is great. They know that the loyal community that have stayed with them have everything they could possibly need from an immensely powerful piece of kit. I think pixelogic got it to a great state before cashing out. ![]()
